As you all know I have been absent for a couple of days this week as my father took ill. He had to undergo an emergency operation but thankfully it all seems to be going well and he appears to be on the road to recovery.  Thank you to everyone for your understanding.

I was disappointed not to be able to attend Sports Day as it is one of the main events of the school calendar. I believe it all went very well and I would like to offer my congratulations to Grangewood for winning the trophy. All the other houses will just have to try a little harder next year if they wish to be successful.

Today is ‘World Cup Day’ in school. I would like to thank everyone who made a donation towards the summer fayre. Although our national team has not done well in this tournament I am sure that our summer fayre will be a big success on July 11th if all the preparations that are taking place are anything to go by. I know that the PTA could always do with more help so if you think that you could help with the summer fayre this please let a PTA member know. If you do not know who they are contact the school office and they will inform the PTA for you.

Next week I will be seeing a lot of parents in school as it is ‘Parent Consultation Week’. It will be nice to see so many of you and I know you all love to see your children’s work and hear how they have been progressing. However may I please gently remind you all that each session only lasts ten minutes which is a good length of time to discuss your child’s progress.   If you do  feel that there is a matter you would like to discuss in more depth please make an appointment to see your child’s teacher at another time and do not take up more than the allocated time as it is unfair to the other parents and the teachers.

I would also like to warn you in advance that the school may be a little bit messy when you come in next week as we are renovating the children’s toilets. We are starting with the KS2 boys toilets and then we will be updating the toilets in the corridor that leads into the hall.

I hope you all have a great weekend – I know that I will certainly have a more relaxing one than I did last week.
